The best way of finding things of interest in a given area is to jump to any of the map pages and centre the map around where you are interested. You should see BELOW the map a list of points of interest along with their distances from the map centre. You can zoom in to focus more on any given area.

We have plans to add in lots more data and when we do, I think you're idea of a search is spot on and is certainly something we would add in.

I can't promise any timescales at present, but we are actively researching and acquiring data sources so hopefully it won't be too long before you start to see more information.
