New Zealand's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Have reported what in their view is the nations worst case of animal cruelty.
Fire arms have been confiscated from 2 men who slaughtered 33 of their neighbour's dogs including puppies. The SPCA intends to file for charges following forensic tests on the dogs. It has been reported that Russell Mendoza had confronted a neighbour, Rowan Hargreaves, complaining that one of Hargreaves' 39 dogs had killed his fox terrier. Mendoza and another man, armed with a .22 rifle and a shotgun, later returned to Hargreaves' property and shot 33 dogs, including 23 puppies and very young dogs. The dogs seem to have been shot at random and early indications show that many were left bleeding to death for some time with trails of blood found across the floor. How an argument can come to end in a tragic situation is beyond comprehension. We can only hope that the offenders receive a custodial sentence. There are no replies yet, why not be the first? |
