IT's hard to believe it can happen, but it has been stated that, Bull breeds, such as bull terriers, bull mastiffs and staffordshire bull terriers, are responsible for nearly 40 per cent of attacks on guide dogs, even though these breeds making up a small minority of the dog population in Britain. The UK Guide Dogs for the Blind Association said that, it found that on average, three guide dogs were being attacked by other dogs every month, causing significant financial and often terrible emotional problems for their owners.

The saddest thing is that the performance and behaviour of the guide dogs was affected in half of cases and in some instances the guide dog had to be withdrawn from service, The emotional scares for the owners are then doubled, they loose their confidence and by default their freedom. Unbelievably the attacking dog's owner apologised in only six out of 100 cases and in eight out of 100 they left without saying anything to the guide dog handler despite them being distressed about the state of their dog. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? There are around 4500 working guide dogs in the UK, supported by the Association, and it costs around £50,000 to maintain a guide dog during its life time, so the financial implications alone of the attacks are serious, the authors wrote in the journal Veterinary Record. This is a shocking video of this actually happening. You will see a drunk man with a Pit-Bull and his dog then attack a guide dog, it's distressing so don't watch if you are easily upset. This is a very sad Newshound hoping that people will intervene if this happens near them, signing off WOOF IN DOG WE TRUST There are no replies yet, why not be the first? |
