Intrepid Claire Whittenbury will brave the elements and take part in the Dogstrust 2010 Arctic Dog Sledding Challenge!
![]() Dodadog will be following here progress and hopefully getting LIVE reports from the frozen lakes to hear her progress. This is what Claire says about her up and coming adventure The Dogs Trust has got its work cut out, which is why I'm counting down the days to February 19th, when I'll be off to the Arctic to take part in this challenge in the hope that everyone will sponsor me before I go. We had our first briefing before Christmas and there's no going back, no wimping out, no excuses, just training, training, training. It's all very real now, only 8 weeks to go - eeek. "A dog is for life, not just for Christmas" was first coined by the Head of the Dogs Trust 30 years ago, and having just spent time at their HQ I've seen that, sadly, it still hasn't reached everyone. I'm raising funds for the Trust in the hope that they can reach more people, save more dogs from neglect and cruelty, encourage the introduction of compulsory micro chipping, protect the welfare of Greyhounds, start constructive dialogue on the social problem of dangerous and status dogs, introduce a ban on the sale of puppies in pet shops and address the welfare concerns associated with selective breeding practices, whilst re-homing as many unwanted dogs as possible. I am on my way to my target, you have given a total of GBP 3503.21 to date and I am very grateful THANK YOU!!! Even though I have reached the minimum of GBP 3300, I'm aiming for a nice round GBP 4000, so please log on to http://www.justgiving.com/verycoldclaire where you can donate: donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Dogs Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Alternatively just make your donation to me in person, I have a secure Dogs Trust collecting bucket! Regular updates on my progress will be posted at http://verycoldclaire.blogspot.com Please donate to Claire's fund from the link above and follow her progress here and on her blog IN DOG WE TRUST (Photos by Frank Kovalchek and Steffen on Flickr used under licence)
