During the next few nights all of us will probably be affected by the usual celebrations on and around Bonfire Night with many fireworks.

While people are enjoying themselves, there are dogs up and down the country trembling and feeling very scared and confused.

Some lucky dogs are not worried about the noise at all, acting as if they don't even notice it, while others are terrified.

Here are a few things you could try to help your dog stay calm:

Leave your radio or television switched on loud enough to cover the sound of the fireworks

Close all your windows and curtains, don't let the dog see the flashing and banging.

Have a long walk in daylight hours and try to get your dogs to run as much as possible to exhaust them.

If you can find someone to stay with your dog, all the better, this will help them feel safe and loved.

Dogs know if their 2 legged friends are anxious so don't show signs yourself.

Speak to you vet if you dog is especially scared of loud bangs, they may prescribe something to calm your dog down. If you want something alternative try Rescue Remedy,Quiet Moments for Dogs or Sedaplus.

Enjoy yourselves and take care of our best friends
