Find-my-dog ™ is our unique dog finding service

If you (and we all hope you don't) lose your dog, using your location aware smartphone you can now alert all the dodadog members who live or walk nearby by SMS txt message and/or email alert.

Within seconds, users with smart phones will be able to access full details online about the loss of your dog, its call signs, favourite treats, and any other pertinent details. Users with standard mobile phones will receive a txt message giving location and description details.

The more of us willing to help, the better chance there is of finding the lost dog. As with a missing person, the best chance of finding them safe and well, is within the first hour. If we all do our bit we can keep our best friends safe!

Once you have subscribed to Find-My-Dog ™ you will be able to register the initial information we need for an alert such as a description and a photograph.

More Information

Find-My-Dog ™ is our unique dog finding service that enables you to alert hundreds of nearby users in the unfortunate event that you lose your dog.

The service is operated from a modern location aware smartphone such as the Apple iPhone or any Google Android based phone (we test on the HTC Hero) and works as follows;

1) Click the Lost and Found logo at the top of the mobile home page to enter details about your lost dog.

Image

You will already have pre-registered information such as a basic description and provided a photograph to accompany the alert, but you can change the information on your mobile if required.

Image

2) Click LOCATE ME to pinpoint where you are when you lost your dog.

Image

We will use GPS (where available) or locations available from nearby wireless masts or knowledge about your IP address to position you on the map. You can drag the marker to a new location or search for addresses in the event that the location determined automatically seems wrong.

3) Click "Send lost dog alert" to trigger the Find-My-Dog ™ service.

Image

When you trigger the alert, our service calculates a list of who lives nearby, who has walked nearby recently and who belongs to groups located nearby and then sends them an immediate alert by SMS text message or by email. Note the importance of "nearby" - we only send alerts to people who may be best placed to help you find your dog, not people living far away or in another country. This is what makes our service so unique.

We can reach hundreds of people within a matter of seconds to alert them of your plight. Users receiving a SMS text alert will have information such as the name, location and description of your dog and users with smartphones will also receive a copy of the photograph.

Find-My-Dog ™ is a world's first in harnessing the power of location aware phones and SMS text messages to deliver a localised service that can help you find your lost dog more quickly.

More information will be posted shortly.
